The Whyalla Veterinary Clinic is a busy and energetic companion animal veterinary practice, with a varied caseload and an established core of loyal clients. Our clinic is seeking a full-time Veterinarian to join the team. We are looking for someone who is interested in small animal medicine, with a commitment and passion for quality practice and high standards of care.

Full or part time small animal position in friendly well equipped 5 vet clinic in Whyalla, South Australia.We need a replacement small animal vet as one of our vets has left here after many years with us.The practice is independent, and the position is 100% small animal. We would like someone to come and share our love of general practice medicine and surgery.

We are open 7 days a week except public holidays. The weekends are shared on rotation with compensating days off the following week. You would have the support of a friendly, experienced nursing team with long service records and a very loyal clientele. We have a visiting surgeon who does our major joint and spinal surgery.

Less complicated orthopaedics is done in clinic.There is a good set of equipment to support your work and of course we are fully computerised. In house Vetscan pathology suite, digital radiography (Shimadzu and Agfa CR15-X) , anaesthetic monitors, operating lights, New iM3

We are looking for an experienced senior veterinarian.Continuing education is an essential part of practice life and actively encouraged.We do see a few pleasure horses, but it is your choice whether you want to do this work or not. Remuneration is above award in the range $120,000 to $160,000
depending on your experience and capabilities.

A furnished house is available at a nominal rent. We are very close the beach, with sailing and fishing clubs and a beach front café. Final Year Veterinary Student Small Animal Clinical Rotations. 
Restarted in June 2020 as COVID-19 restrictions relaxed, we are now able to host veterinary student again.
 
 
LOCATION: Whyalla. 4 hours from Adelaide, South Australia
TYPE OF PRACTICE: Small Animal Practice. Occasional horse.
 
STUDENTS:  Preference is given to Australian final year veterinary students.  International students may apply but travel to Whyalla, Australia and Visa are their responsibility.
 
DESCRIPTION: We have positions each year for final year veterinary students to come and gain their small animal work experience at our practices. Students will work 1:1 under supervision of a qualified veterinary surgeon working up and treating cases. There will ample opportunity to further their surgical experience, especially in neutering of strays as part of our rehousing scheme.
 
The practice is fully computerized, in-house pathology, digital radiology, ultrasound, IM3 dental  and all the modern equipment you would expect in a progressive  practice.
We have excellent, mature lay staff who can be relied upon and will provide an excellent resource for a veterinary student working at our practice .
 
The position is based in Whyalla , a city of 20,000 that offers an excellent lifestyle with excellent fishing, boating, swimming and all other amenities of a medium sized coastal city.
 
WORK PERIOD: 2 to 8 weeks. MINIMUM 3 weeks
 
AFTER HOURS WORK: Yes. Expect to be called in to assist with emergencies.
 
ACCOMMODATION: Successful applicants are provided with accommodation in Whyalla.
 
ASSISTANCE ALLOWANCE: $20 per day is paid to for meals and transport.
